Hi y’all . . . And Bon’ Voyage’!
Sue and I will be boarding the Holland America Lines, Ms. Konigsdam. They name all their ships Dam. The Legendary Rhythm and Blues Cruise always puts a banner up on the stern of the ship that says “This Damn Ship Rocks!!!” We will be incommunicado for some days. I don’t want to pay the ridiculous charge for WiFi on the ship. I guarantee that we will be having the time of our lives, though. So don’t worry about us . . . Heh, heh . . .
We went to the pre-boarding party last night. Very good entertainment (a band from Boston). celebrities from our ship would occasionally appear in the hall, just walking through. Pinetop Perkins was one. And the old guy really enjoyed people calling out “Pinetop!”, shaking hands and schmoozing with friends and fans. Earlier, I saw Harold Brown, drummer of the Low Rider Band with his baggage and friends. I think he recognized me. I figure I will renew our friendliness once we set sail. Terrance Simien was in the lobby during the party and he shook hands and did the ‘man hug’ thing with me. I believe he actually remembers me. He made me part of his family on the last cruise.
I think we are going to have one outstanding time.
Love to all of you,
David T
