Here are some videos of a very under-rehearsed band I’m no longer playing in. I’m sorry about the video quality. The so-called videographer was terrible. Most of the talking you hear is from the videographer. I did my best to edit the stuff. Especially the sound, which I can have some control over.
I left to start work with a church choir ensemble for a short time at Jesu Catholic Church in Detroit, across the street from the University of Detroit Mercy and down the street from the Detroit Golf Club. A very well-run and beautiful church. The pastor is outstanding. Oh! And the choir director is my very good friend, Joanna Powell.
Joanna is an awesome vocalist and is able to corral cats . . . I mean . . . coax volunteers into becoming a cohesive unit. Some of the choir members are also outstanding vocalists. Joanna also played at my wedding at the Motown Museum. The wedding was a memorable occasion, of course, for Sue (my wife) and me, as well as Joanna, to be sure.
THAT! was a very fun gig. Gospel is a real challenge for me. And some of the music is . . . well . . . There’s a reason they call Gospel music uplifting. It’s not all shake your tambourine/stomp your foot stuff. Modern Gospel is . . . well . . .Very Modern. . .
Back to the Juke Dukes . . . Check out the awesome walking bass and the understated drumming of Dave Kosloski. We play well together. Blues is also lots of fun to play. I LOVE WALKING THE BASS!!! WooHoo!!!
Enjoy the Videos.
The following words should go without saying, but I will be wearing a mask due to health considerations . . . But not all the time, of course. I will try to stay safe while enjoying friends and family.
Please, please, stay safe. Wear a mask when appropriate. Don’t take any chances with your health and life. And above all, the health and lives of your friends and loved ones. Please be thoughtful about when to wear a mask or not and GET THE COVID-19 VACCINE OR SPEAK TO YOUR DOCTOR IF YOU BELIEVE YOU SHOULDN’T FOR HEALTH REASONS . . .
Love to all,
David T

I enjoy playing this song. A simple walk for me.
This is a cool song. Played in a minor key, which is always fun.
A classic Cannonball Adderly song. What a cool rhythm and melody!
This one is a favorite Little Walter song. I get to really walk in this one!
