I can now declare that the violin is ready to stain. It’s now at the point that they call “in the white”. Here’s some pictures that my wife, Sue took as I was finishing the sanding. It took a long time to get it sanded because I took frequent breaks to be sure I didn’t sand too much off. Sanding is very relaxing and it’s easy to get carried away.
I’ll keep you posted on the staining process.
Comments are more than welcome.

Are you going with traditional colors or something more modern?
I’m going with a modern brown-burst look. I picked up the stains, yesterday with some wood samples for testing my color mixes and techniques. I put the first coat of amber on, yesterday, and will sand that down and do it again, today. It took overnight to dry because of the humidity. This may take weeks to do all the applications and sand-backs I plan . . .
Dear David, you know I am a garbage man right. Well if you didn’t you, you know now. Blah blah blah, anywho I found a violentin in the trash. You notice that I said violentin, because she’s in pretty bad shape. I was wondering if it might be fixable. I will send you pictures of it via your cell phone. The problem is that I am not sure of your number. If you could text me sometime then I will have it. Thanks love greg ?
It really looks awesome!
I really like the grain of the wood.
